Secondary Teacher Training
Share your subject. Shape their future.
Secondary teaching has the power to spark curiosity, build confidence and help young people discover what they’re capable of.
As a secondary trainee, you’ll learn how to bring your subject to life through engaging, purposeful teaching that encourages pupils to think independently, ask questions, and achieve their potential. Alongside developing strong classroom practice, you’ll build the skills to support students both academically and personally during some of the most important years of their education.
With hands-on classroom experience from day one, you’ll work alongside experienced teachers who will support, challenge and guide you throughout your training journey as you grow into a confident and reflective practitioner.
We offer a wide range of secondary subjects, giving trainees the opportunity to specialise in the subject they’re passionate about while learning within supportive school environments where professional growth and subject expertise are highly valued.
Secondary Teacher Training Bursaries
Some subjects are eligible for bursaries, which can provide additional financial support for trainees undertaking teacher training in shortage subjects. Bursary amounts and eligibility criteria vary depending on the subject and may change each year. For the latest information on eligible subjects, funding amounts, and application criteria for 2026–2027, please refer to the Department for Education bursaries and scholarships page.
