Farewell 2022 2023

Romero Serves

On Friday March 3rd 2023, all the staff and governors were invited to the annual Conference hosted at Cardinal Wiseman.

The theme was ‘Romero Serves’ with speakers and liturgy focused on our ‘Calling to serve’ and what vocation means to us within our organisation.

The passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

We express our deepest sympathies for the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Her dedication to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and to her other realms and
territories is unparalleled and we thank her for her service.

Our school/trust will observe the mourning period whilst continuing to support our pupils, families and staff.

Year 6 Writing Workshop

A selection of Year 6 children from across the Romero schools came together for our first Writing Workshop. Children watched the Christmas Truce, read Carol Ann Duffy’s poetic retell and made links to their learning in History to write a third person retell of the the famous event.

Here is a selection of their work.

Romero Newsletter Spring 2021

Spring Newsletter click here. or click on the image below.

Today, on Maundy Thursday we bring the Spring term of 2021 to a close. It is poignant that we finish on a day which commemorates the Last Supper and Jesus washing the feet of his disciples. We hope that the symbolism of the Hot Cross Bun and the prayer card go in someway to help all pupils and staff remember the importance of the liturgy alongside the beautiful services, Masses and liturgies that have taken place led by pupils and staff alike (albeit virtual so do check out social media!)

This term, whilst we continued to be challenged by a further lockdown and reopening our schools on March 8th, the fortitude of our staff, pupils and governors has continued to be evident for all our communities to see.

On Maundy Thursday we remember Jesus washed the feet of the disciples, an act described in the Gospel of John, chapter 13, as Jesus teaching them to be servants. It’s the ultimate act of “servant leadership.” Jesus instructs his followers to love and to serve. We in turn are ask to follow this first commandment.

As we bring this newsletter to you all, we hope you can see those acts of servant leadership in action.

We remember

A year on, we remember Father Bob and Carole Flynn on their first anniversary.

Almighty and eternal God,

Hear our prayers and thanksgivings on the anniversary of Father Bob (March 5th)  and Carole (2nd April). Enfold them in your care in a place of solace, of peaceful rest and of glorious light.

Amen

Echoing Brendan’s words in the welcome, may you all have a happy and holy Easter.

Best wishes

Helen

Coventry Carol

Coventry Carol

As Coventry gets ready to celebrate the City of Culture in 2021, there is no better way to celebrate our heritage than sharing the gifts of our city. We gathered all our schools to sing a part of the Coventry Carol as our Christmas virtual card to all those we partner in our city and beyond.

Thank you to all the staff and pupils for their contribution in this video. Particular thanks to Paul Madia, Executive Principal for editing and forming the Coventry Carol as one seamless video. Thank you!

The “Coventry Carol” is an English Christmas Carol dating from the 16th century. The carol was traditionally performed in Coventry in England as part of a mystery play called The Pageant of the Shearmen and Tailors. The play depicts the Christmas story from chapter two in the Gospel of Matthew.

The music contains a well-known example of a Picardy third. The author is unknown; the oldest known text was written down by Robert Croo in 1534, and the oldest known setting of the melody dates from 1591.[1]
